This CFS equipment alarm request is a tool to enable users to receive remote alarm notifications on equipment that they deem critical to carrying out their University mission. These remote alarm notifications will be sent directly to the users identified communication devices. It is critical that the contact information is accurate and kept up to date. The contact information provided will be tested at the time of installation to verify the alarm is being sent to the identified device. Remote notifications can be sent to multiple devices but it is the user’s responsibility to initiate a response to any alarm notification by contacting the CFS trouble line at 317-278-1900 and requesting assistance. In order to proceed with this request please provide the required information as indicated by (*). Once the request is received a CFS employee will contact the requestor and proceed with setting up the alarm and testing the contact information. Each remote alarm notification in the system will require a yearly update to verify contact information and account numbers.
Please note: Choosing to receive remote alarm notifications through the Building Automation System is under normal circumstances a fairly reliable and stable system. The Building Automation System can lose connectivity during power outages or system maintenance activities. During those instances it is possible that the remote alarm notifications would not be sent out. The recommended choice for setting up remote notifications would be through a vendor that utilizes cell phone and landline to send remote notifications. Notifications sent utilizing both cell and landline technologies are not vulnerable during power outages and system maintenance activities.
While CFS does respond to trouble calls as requested by end users we do not service departmental equipment such as freezers, minus 80 freezers, cold rooms, incubators, etc. It is prudent to have the contact information of an emergency service provider for each type of equipment. It is also prudent to have the equipment maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
